What is the difference between CMMI for Development and CMMI for Services? ▾
CMMI for Development (CMMI-DEV) is aimed at organizations that create products, such as hardware or software. CMMI for Services (CMMI-SVC) is intended for organizations that provide services, such as BPO or IT support. The central concepts are similar, but the specific Process Areas are adjusted to match the type of work.
Is this certification for me as an individual or for my company? ▾
It's for both. The "Certified CMMI Associate" is an individual credential validating your understanding of the model. The CMMI "Appraisal" results in a Maturity Level rating for your entire organization or a specific unit within it. Individuals earn the certification, while organizations receive the appraisal.
What exactly is a SCAMPI Appraisal? ▾
It stands for Standard CMMI Appraisal Method for Process Improvement. A SCAMPI A is the rigorous, official evaluation that culminates in a publicly publishable Maturity Level rating, for example, "Maturity Level 3".
How is CMMI different from ISO 9001? ▾

In the market, this level is frequently a required standard for major government and international contracts.
Who is the CMMI Institute? ▾
The CMMI Institute is the body responsible for maintaining the CMMI models and serves as the official governing authority for all CMMI appraisals, training, and certifications. This organization is currently owned by ISACA.
What is a Lead Appraiser? ▾
A Lead Appraiser is a professional certified by the CMMI Institute who is authorized to manage a formal SCAMPI A appraisal team. They hold the ultimate authority in determining whether an organization satisfies the criteria for a particular maturity level. Our course instructors are qualified Lead Appraisers.
Is it possible for my company to reach Maturity Level 3 without retaining an expensive consultant? ▾
It is extremely challenging. The model is complicated, and the preparation required for an appraisal is a major undertaking. The most budget-conscious strategy is to develop internal expertise by having your own personnel (like you) become certified and then engage a Lead Appraiser for the final evaluation and guidance.
Do I need to be a software developer to understand CMMI-DEV? ▾
No, you don't. Your requirement is to comprehend the development process itself, not to know how to write code. Process leads, QA managers, and project managers are often the primary drivers of CMMI adoption.
Is CMMI still relevant in an Agile environment? ▾
Yes, absolutely; this is a common misunderstanding. CMMI dictates what should be done (e.g., plan your work, manage requirements), not how to do it. You can fully meet CMMI practices using Agile methodologies like Kanban and Scrum.
What is the official CMMI Associate exam like? ▾
It is an online, proctored, multiple-choice assessment. You must pass this test to receive the "Certified CMMI Associate" credential and be listed in the CMMI Institute's official directory. This training course is specifically designed for your successful preparation.
What is the cost of the CMMI Associate exam? ▾
The examination fee is determined by the CMMI Institute and typically ranges from $250 to $300 USD. This charge is separate from the course tuition and must be paid directly to the Institute when you register for the test.
Does the certification expire? ▾
The Certified CMMI Associate credential is permanent and does not expire. However, other, more advanced certifications within the CMMI progression do require periodic renewal.
If my company is appraised at Maturity Level 3, does that imply all employees are certified? ▾
No. The appraisal rating applies to the organization. Individual staff members are not considered "CMMI Level 3 certified". Nevertheless, having certified CMMI Associates on staff is an essential factor in successfully achieving and maintaining that appraisal.

How long does the training take to complete? ▾
The core training is 24 hours of instruction. This is typically delivered as a 3-day intensive bootcamp or spread across 4 weeks in our weekend or weekday evening batches.
What are the different training formats available? ▾
We offer three modalities: E-Learning (self-paced), Instructor-Led Live Class (online), and Classroom Training (in-person in major IT hubs).
Are the classes live or just pre-recorded videos? ▾

What if a work commitment forces me to miss a scheduled class? ▾
You won't fall behind. Every session is recorded and available within 24 hours. You also have the flexibility to attend the same session in another running batch at no extra cost.
