What happens if I forget to renew my PMP certificate?

The PMP® Credential Handbook says that you will be placed on the suspended status if you don't satisfy the CCR program within your active certification dates. Therefore, you may not use the credential designation until you earn the necessary PDUs or complete the renewal process. A suspension lasts one year (12 months).

If you fail to earn 60 PDUs in your recertification cycle, you will lose your PMP® status, and you will have to retake the exam. 

You can only return to the "active" status once you have earned enough PDUs and finished the renewal process.
