The standard method of  PMI examinations is center-based testing (CBT). Paper-based testing (PBT) is also available under certain limited circumstances which are detailed in the “Examination Administration” section below.
The PMP examination consists of 200 multiple-choice questions, out of which 25 are pretest questions. These pretest questions do not affect the final score and are used to test the validity of future examination questions. All of the 200 questions are placed randomly throughout the exam.

  • Total Questions: 200
  • No. of Scored Questions: 175
  • No. of Pretest Questions (Unscored): 25
  • Allotted Examination Time: 4 hrs

This examination is preceded by a tutorial and followed by a survey. Both are optional and can take up to 15 minutes to complete. The time used to complete both the tutorial and survey are not included in the examination time of four hours.
Examination Administration:
Alternative testing options are available in the following instances:

  • The distance to a CBT site is more than 240 km (150 miles)
  • A CBT site is not available within the country of residence and traveling across country borders is prohibited/unduly burdensome

After completion of PMP Training, you can schedule an exam appointment after PMI receives payment of your certification fee. Follow these instructions to schedule your test appointment with Pearson VUE - Pearson VUE Instructions

You can reschedule or cancel the exam at any time until two calendar days before your scheduled exam appointment. However, because of limited seating capacity at the test centers, cancellations and rescheduling the exam will lead to a fee.
Please read the following policy carefully.
Within 30 days of your appointment
If you reschedule or cancel your exam within 30 days of your scheduled appointment, you will be charged a fee of US $70. This fee helps to ensure greater seating availability at test centers since candidates who wait until the last minute to reschedule or cancel their exams are “reserving” seats that could be used by others. The fee will be charged when you go online to reschedule or cancel your exam within the 30-day period. The $70 charge will appear on your credit card as a charge from the test vendor. The 30-day period does not include the day of the exam appointment. For example, if you scheduled your exam for May 5th, you must reschedule or cancel the exam on or before April 4th to avoid the fee. For emergency situations in which you are unable to change your exam appointment before 30 days of your exam appointment, the Extenuating Circumstance Policy may apply. The details of Extenuating Circumstances are given below. PMI will evaluate these situations on a case-by-case basis to determine if a refund of the rescheduling fee is appropriate.
Within 2 days of your appointment
You need to reschedule or cancel your appointment before you are within two calendar days of your exam appointment. If you wait until you are within two days of your exam appointment, you will be able to cancel your appointment and you will forfeit the entire exam fee. You will not be able to reschedule your appointment at this point and will need to pay associated reexamination fees to schedule a new exam.
Extenuating Circumstances
PMI understands that there are times when personal emergencies may cause you to reschedule or cancel your exam within 30 days of the appointment OR miss a scheduled exam appointment (resulting in a no-show status). The extenuating circumstances can include:

  • Medical emergency
  • Military deployment
  • Death in immediate family
  • Illness in immediate family
  • Natural disaster

If only a portion of a pmp course dealt with project management, only the hours spent on project management can be applied toward the total.

PDUs are the measuring unit used to quantify approved learning and professional service activities.

No. PMI® does not mandate any expiry timeline for contact hours earned to qualify for the PMP® Exam, as long as you retain the proof (certificate). There is no deadline or expiry date, though the contact hours must have been acquired before the submission of the application to PMI®. For example, if you earn the contact hours in 2013, there's nothing stopping you from taking the exam in 2017.

You are granted a one-year eligibility period in which to pass the examination after completion of PMP training. During the eligibility period, you may take the examination up to three times. According to PMIs calculation, the concept of non-overlapping experience refers to the following:

If a professional is working on multiple projects at the same time, then the experience will be counted for one project over that stipulated period for which he/she worked on the project.

Example: Mr. A has managed 2 projects in 2016, Project 1 ran from Jan'16 to Aug'16 (8 months) and Project 2 ran from April'16 to Dec'16 (9 months). In this case, we have an overlap of 5 months (Apr'16 to Aug'16). So the experience for these 5 months will be counted as 5 months and not as 10 months (5x2=10). The non-overlapping experience is 12 months.

PMI will not be updating the PMP exam after the release of the PMBOK® Guide 7th Edition. Since both the PMP exam and the PMBOK Guide use updated and accurate terms already used by project managers in the field, there is no need to update the exam after the PMBOK® Guide is updated.

After completion of PMP Certification, you can take  Prince2 certification or MSP Foundation and Practitioner or Prince2 Agile Foundation and Practitioner or you can also opt-in for Project Management Certification (PGP in Project Management) program.

A PMP certificate is a credential awarded by the Project Management Institute (PMI) to those who pass the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification exam successfully. It is the gold standard in the field of project management and helps professionals benchmark their skills and increase their credibility. Our PMP training can help you prepare for this exam and pass it in a single try.

The PMP certificate is valid for three years. To maintain your PMP certification, you need to achieve 60 Professional Development Units (PDUs) in a 3-year cycle.

A PMP certificate is proof of your top-notch skills in the field of project management. It verifies an individual’s ability to speak the global language of project managers and brings all kinds of projects (even the complex ones) to successful completion. By achieving the credential, you can work in virtually any industry as a project manager.

First, you need to check whether you are eligible to take the PMP certification exam. For example, a four-year degree, 36 months of experience in leading projects, and 35 hours of PMP training is required to become eligible. Next, you need to pass the PMP certification exam to receive the PMP certificate.

PMI, in one of its salary surveys, found that PMP certification holders earned around 25 percent higher average salaries in North America than their non-certified peers. The PMP certificate is recognized globally and you can significantly improve your earning potential with it.

Companies face losses worth millions of dollars due to poor project management practices. So, it becomes crucial for project managers to gain the right skills and learn how to bring projects to successful completion. A PMP certificate is highly regarded by organizations worldwide, and hiring managers rely on it to find the right candidates for their project manager positions. By obtaining a PMP certification, you can increase your credibility as well as improve your salary prospects.

If you are a PMI member, you need to pay USD 60 as a renewal fee. For non-PMP members, the renewal fee is USD 150.

The PMP certification exam is quite difficult, even for those who have experience in project management. So, the time it takes to prepare for the exam entirely depends on your prior knowledge and the intensity with which you prepare. If you are dedicated enough, it can take you around six months for complete preparation with the help of PMP training.

Once you clear the PMP exam, you will receive your certificate package within 6 to 8 weeks. You will also receive your digital badge through Credly that can be shared on social media platforms to mark your achievement.

The new PMP course has been thoughtfully designed to make you a skilled Project Manager. You will be equipped with all the tools and techniques to design, organize, execute and complete projects within the set deadlines and allocated budget. By the end of the course, you will be equipped with the skills to:

Yes, you should have completed the 35 PMP contact hours before submitting your PMP application. Yes. You would need to enter the course details together with the date of completion on the PMP application form before submitting.

The PMBOK® Guide is a great resource and an extremely useful one to master project management skills.

Please note that the PMBOK® Guide, 7th Edition does not impact the PMP® Exam Prep Training Material, which has been developed to align to the PMP Exam Content Outline. It is important to note that the current PMP exam is based on the Exam Content Outline, dated January 2021, and not on the PMBOK® Guide. The Exam Content Outline summarizes the research conducted to create the PMP® exam and includes the most critical tasks required for project managers to master in their role.

Some find the application process for the PMP exam to be quite complex. When you enrol for a PMP certification training program with iCert Global, you'll benefit from step-by-step guidance by a iCert Global in-house SME on your PMI® registration and membership as well as your application review and submission.
PMI conducts random audits of the applications to ensure the credibility of the certification program and of the certification holders. If your application is selected for the audit process, you will have 90 days to gather and submit all certificates and documentation to substantiate your project management experience and project management-related education; proper verification for the project experience listed in the application must be provided.

An iCert Global expert will hand-hold you through the entire process, enabling you to focus on what matters - your exam preparation. In addition to this, you’ll also benefit from a 100% money-back guarantee.

The new examination blueprint detailing the percentage of questions contained in each project management process group is as follows:

  • People: 42%
  • Process: 50%
  • Business Environment: 8%
